Compensation

MEA provides data for over 400 benchmark positions in the Southeastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware regions. These 400 positions are divided among four separate wage and salary surveys conducted annually by MEA. All of the surveys feature summary information of actual pay rates for each surveyed position, plus breakouts for industry category, employment size and labor market.

The surveys are:

MEA Administrative and Office Support Survey Report - This survey report covers nearly 100 benchmark office and support positions as submitted by MEA member companies.  Sample positions include multiple levels of:

  • Administrative Assistants
  • Accountants
  • Buyers
  • Customer Service Representatives
  • Human Resource Generalists

MEA Engineering, Scientific, Technical Support and IT Survey Report - This survey is a combination of approximately 200 professional engineering, information technology and highly skilled technical jobs as submitted by MEA member companies.  Sample positions include multiple levels of:

  • Engineers (across nine disciplines)
  • Systems Analysts and Programmers
  • Biologists and Chemists
  • Computer & Engineering Technicians
  • IT and Engineering Managers & Directors

MEA Production, Maintenance and Service Survey Report - This survey contains approximately 100 non-exempt hourly positions generally associated with manufacturing and distribution as submitted by MEA member companies.  Sample positions include:

  • General Production Laborers & Assemblers
  • Building & Grounds Maintenance Workers
  • CNC Operators
  • Machinists
  • Drivers
  • Welders

MEA Supervisory and Management Survey Report - This survey contains over 80 exempt positions ranging from first-line supervisors to upper-level managerial positions across industries as submitted by MEA member companies.  Sample positions include supervisors, managers and directors in:

  • Accounting & Finance
  • Customer Service
  • Human Resources
  • Marketing
  • Manufacturing, Production & Distribution
  • Purchasing

Pay Practices, Policies & Benefits

MEA Health Benefits Survey

MEA gathers data annually on the insurance programs offered by area employers. This survey covers medical, dental, vision, life and disability programs. The Health Benefits Survey features information on:

  • Types of coverage offered
  • Percentages of premiums covered by employers
  • Cost saving measures used by employers
  • Dependent and retiree coverage
  • Prescription drug plans, and much more.

MEA Policies and Practices Survey
This regional survey allows companies to evaluate how their HR practices and policies compare to other companies in the Mid-Atlantic area.  The survey reports data on the following areas:

  • Health and welfare benefits
  • Retirement benefits
  • Miscellaneous benefits
  • Pay practices
  • Working conditions
  • Paid time off
  • Part-time employees
  • Recruitment, training and development
  • Employee/community relations.

Data in the report is broken out by size of company, type of employee (exempt, non-exempt, and managerial) and union status.

This data is also available on a national basis through our National Surveys.

MEA Salary Planning Guide    In addition to the detailed information established for the benchmark positions, MEA publishes an annual report of regional wage rate trends that includes anticipated salary increases for the coming budget year. The MEA Salary Planning Guide also includes a number of comparative measures frequently employed in benchmarking annual compensation changes, such as the consumer price index and the employment cost index.

MEA Holiday Survey  This annual survey allows organizations to determine which holidays are commonly provided to employees.
