LEADERSHIP: SUPERVISION AND MANAGEMENT
From On-boarding to Off-boarding: How to Effectively Manage the Employment Process*
Description
This course is recommended for supervisors, managers and executives who have responsibility for their subordinates’ employment relationships within the organization. In this interactive workshop, participants will examine the primary federal employment laws governing workplace conduct and employer responses, and how to recruit, hire, discipline and terminate employees in a legal manner. Special focus will be placed on the recruitment and interview process, types of interviews, style of interview questions and how to effectively handle terminations. Participants will have the opportunity to develop their own interview questions and practice their interviewing skills. Additionally, attendees will review the DOs and DON'Ts of providing critical feedback, discuss situations where disciplinary action is appropriate, learn tips for writing the discipline letter, and understand the steps to take for a legally defensible termination.
