Is membership right for me or my organization?
An MEA Membership may be beneficial in any of the following scenarios:
- A growing organization that may not have an internal HR role.
- A non-HR professional with HR duties (i.e. controller, CFO, general manager, office manager, etc).
- A growing organization who recognizes they need to update their HR functions.
- An organization who recognizes the risks of HR non-compliance. “I didn’t know” will not hold up in court.
- A solo HR professional who needs an extra set of hands or a sounding board for tough workforce-related situations.
- Any HR professional who could benefit from a network of like-minded colleagues facing similar challenges.
- Larger HR teams in need of specialized expertise in one of the many facets of HR.
- Leaders of non-profits who want to maximize their impact with lean resources.
Is this like a SHRM membership?
- SHRM membership belongs to the individual.
- MEA membership is for the organization. Many HR professionals who are Members of MEA are also members of SHRM.
- We provide personalized guidance and consultation through our expert employers’ hotline and legal resources.
Is there a maximum number of people I can have on a membership?
- Access to the tools and resources of MEA are accessible to any employees of the Member company.
- Generally, those in contact with MEA experts for the purposes of HR and Legal guidance are those in Executive Leadership, HR, or Management roles.
- Employees may engage with MEA through our conferences and training primarily, not necessarily as a contact under Membership.
How long am I locked in for?
- When becoming a Member, both parties understand that the company is obligated to pay for the first 12 months of Membership.
- Thereafter, the Member may cancel the Membership on 60 days prior written notice
Is there a limit to hotline or attorney calls?
- Call as many times as is necessary.
What states do you specialize in?
- MEA is a regional “employers’ association” that covers PA, NJ, DE, MD, NY.
- Our experts can assist with answering questions in other jurisdictions on an ad hoc basis.
- While our Members are largely located in the states above, with an increase in remote work and additional areas of operation across the US, we do support national needs.
- MEA is also part of a national network of employers’ associations.
- Often, Members with significant operations in another state will join a sister association.
Is the membership just for me, or for my whole company?
- MEA Membership belongs to the company, though many individuals including HR and other business leaders may take advantage of the benefits and resources.
Are there incentives for referring my peers to become members?
- Anytime you refer someone who becomes an MEA Member, you will receive a credit for 20% of your annual MEA membership dues and a $100 gift card just for you!
- There is no limit on referrals! You will continue to receive a one-time credit of 20% off your annual dues for each referral that becomes a paid MEA Member.
- You can also use the 20% credit towards any MEA service or training. The $100 gift card will be emailed once the referred company has joined MEA. Gift cards will be paid on the number of referrals who join.
Do you offer discounts for nonprofits?
- MEA believes in supporting non-profits! Non-profits enjoy 10% off the Membership rate.
